I wanted a simple and modern boy's room for my son, T. I knew he needed a room where he could relax and read books, but also build out his lego and have pillow fights with his brother. As usual, I was inspired by clean, simple Scandinavian decor. I dreamed of crisp white spaces that were also inviting to the little men in my life.
Simple decor for a busy life
We live a chaotic life. My boys are often on the road with me in the summer, travelling in Wildflower and when we’re home in the winter it’s the whirlwind of hockey season. I knew they needed a calm space to come home to. T’s room is a place he can unwind in but also play and explore.
Add interest to a modern boy's room with wallpaper
One of my favourite ways to add character and personality to a room is with wallpaper. To transform T’s room, I partnered with Livette’s Wallpaper to create some interest while still keeping with the calm and white theme.
Personalize the room with modern wood signs
Of course, I had to add some Pink Lemon Decor to the room! My Free as a Bird sign is the perfect simple and modern wood sign to showcase T's personality. It pairs so well with the black square mirror and other natural elements.
Natural details soften modern decor
It’s the little things that really bring this room together. I’m in love with boho herringbone wallpaper from Livette’s because it’s so versatile. I scooped up some great pieces from IKEA to add to the room, including the Tarva Bed Frame in pine for more Scandinavian and natural vibes. I also got the Gladom Tray Tableto serve as a nightside table and the Nissedal Mirror. My love of all things IKEA continued with the dresser and the lohals rug.
The faux olive tree is no longer available online but did find this amazing alternative for a modern and simple boy’s room. To add some additional “chill” factor to this room, we added a wicker chair like this one from Wayfair.
Overall, T’s room is a sanctuary. It’s the perfect spot to come home to. I love that I was able to create a simple and modern kid’s room for my boy.
